I am posting (3) three summer programs in which some of you may want to consider participating.
The training and advice you’ll receive during your time at any of these programs are well worth your time and effort.

Edinboro University “Distance Village”
WVU CC and Track & Field Camps
Ohio Valley Track Club

Edinboro University of Pennsylvania holds a “Distance Village” during the late summer months for high school athletes. I’ve attended this camp twice in high school (sopohomore/junior years [1998-99]). Because of this camp, I came into CC season in excellent shape and learned many tactics and priciples I now use.

Here is the page for the 2008 WVU CC and Track & Field camps.

For those who cannot afford or do not have time to attend either of the camps above, the Ohio Valley Track Club will be held at Brooke High School during the months of June and July. They typically meet twice a week for about 60-90 minutes. There are home and away meets; the away meets cost money to participate in, but can be good for off-season training. The program is open to all children ages 5-18.

Hopefully some BHS distance runners utilize this program. If you know someone who is a current 7th/8th grade track runner or an incoming freshman, encourage them to sign up for the OVTC. It will give them some idea how to prepare for Cross Country and Track seasons. The OVTC information is available for download HERE.
